Southcentral Foundation is hosting the Virtual Nuka Conference, beginning on June 14. This conference will offer attendees the opportunity to learn about SCF’s two-time Malcolm Baldrige award-winning Nuka System of Care. Sessions are available on a wide variety of topics, including but not limited to:
  • Integrated Care Teams. Learn how SCF organizes its Integrated Care Teams, how they operate in day-to-day clinical activity, and how SCF supports its teams in providing high-quality relationship-based care. An additional session is also available on Integrated Care Team optimization, where SCF clinical experts will detail how SCF supports teams in improving their team dynamics and customer service.
  • Behavioral Health Integration. Examine SCF’s systems of integrated behavioral health, including how Behavioral Health Consultants work with customer-owners in primary care clinics, and how these same consultants support Integrated Care Teams as needed for customer-owner cases. Also covered will be some common issues health care systems can face in integrating behavioral health services, and how SCF has navigated these issues.
  • Rural Health Care. Learn how SCF provides health care in rural Alaskan villages, some of which are so remote that they are only accessible by plane. This session will detail how SCF partners with communities to provide services, and how it has refined its methods, such as tele-pharmacy and tele-behavioral health, to provide high-quality care in remote areas.
  • Strategic Planning. Discover SCF’s strategic planning process, including how it ensures alignment of all work with SCF’s vision and mission, how it engages all employees, and how it leverages relationships across the organization. Also covered will be how SCF uses the Baldrige framework to support a cycle of continuous improvement.
  • Supporting a Resilient Workforce During the COVID-19 Pandemic. Learn how SCF used a relationship-based approach to support its workforce during the stressful times of the COVID-19 pandemic. The session will cover strategies employed by SCF both before and during the pandemic to ensure that its workforce was able to continue offering high-quality care.

The conference will also include a virtual tour of SCF’s Primary Care Center.

In addition to the conference, two other events are available as part of our summer line-up: Introduction to Core Concepts (June 17-18), a virtual workshop that teaches the communication and relationship-building skills at the center of SCF’s Nuka System of Care, and an Integrated Care Team webinar (June 21-24), four half-day virtual sessions that provide a deep dive into how SCF’s Integrated Care Teams operate.

Registration and more information can be found here. Feel free to contact the SCF Learning Institute if you have any questions, and we hope to see you at the Virtual Nuka Conference!
