Part one of this two-part series on workforce development covered Southcentral Foundation’s general approach to workforce training and support. This part will go in-depth about one aspect of SCF’s workforce training: coaching.
Coaching at SCF is rooted in the Gestalt method. It emphasizes the continuous learning and growth of individuals. Coaching is the art of facilitating the performance, learning ability, growth and development of another. At SCF, coaching is used to help teams succeed, to develop the skills of individuals, and to help employees build relationships. Coaching at SCF is based on the same relationship-based principles that SCF uses in working with customer-owners and that are woven into every facet of the organization.
SCF has found that coaching can be useful for people in a wide variety of positions. These include leaders/managers seeking to improve their leadership skills, providers trying to better connect with their clinical teams, or anyone who wants to build healthy relationships with co-workers. Coaching can be especially valuable for people new to leadership roles whose skills and responsibilities may not have previously included managing others, as well as those new to working in a team environment.
Some common coaching areas include:
SCF also offers coaching to external individuals and organizations. For more information on coaching at SCF, or any other aspect of SCF’s workforce training, feel free to contact the SCF Learning Institute.
